The benefits of working with a friend is that you can correct each other's mistakes and you can help each other to get a better grade. To get a better grade you can help one another make the writing more complex. By working with your partner they can help you get better on your weak spots. My weak spot is writing an important passage. While working with my partner he helped me get better on my weak point. It is also enjoyable because you don't have to have so much pressure doing the lit circle as your friend/ partner can help and correct your mistakes. This is why I think it is so great working with a partner.
One obstacle that I overcame was my weak spot in the lit circle passages. My partner helped me improve on this by giving me advice like put alot of details, take some evidence from the book and write the page number of the sentence for the evidence you took from the book. He also taught me to put in a simile. An example of a simile would be: " Just then it hit me like a boulder".
I don't have a new understanding of the book because I think I already understand it very well.

Lit Circle Reflection
In humanities we are doing lit circles. Lit circles is when we read a book and write a mini report on the chapters we are assigned every week. In lit circles we must write 2 important passages, 2 questions that cant be answered very easily, 2 answers for each question, make 2 connections reactions from the book an we have to find 2 vocabulary words that we don't know from the book.
During my literature circle discussion my group tends to get really exited of our book Hatchet. In the lit circle we were talking alot about the book hatchet we soon came to an understanding of the book to make it clearer. However we also found out even if we read the same book we had a different point of view of the story. With this we were able to learn more about each others point of view which is a good thing. In our discussion we made connections about our life. One of my connections are of our past literature circle Call it Courage. I said that it was both a survival book.
Our group managed to come up with a obvious prediction that he will survive and be able to make a fire to help him survive. We also know he will be able to get out of the forest because he is the main character so if he doesn't make it there is no point on making the book.

Fire Flies
One of the best parts of the field trip to Kuala Selangor was the fireflies. Anne, Micah, Kennedy and I were on one small old boat. It was Anne's first time getting on a small boat like that so she almost fell. But she was lucky enough to grab on to me before she fell...
We saw fireflies in trees and bushes making it look like Christmas trees. During the boat ride the guy stopped us at 2 bushes and 1 firefly each flew on me and Micah. After a while they flew away. After Micah and my turn, it was Anne and Kennedy's turn. And surprisingly the same thing happened to Kennedy and Anne. A firefly each came to them. And even more surprisingly the one that came to Kennedy flew away after a while but the one that came to Anne stayed with her and then transferred to me! Anne and I named this firefly 'Flashy Flashy'. Soon we were reaching where we would come off of the boat and 'Flashy Flashy' flew away. Anne and I were so sad. :( ...
It was awesome, boring and sad while I was on this little firefly trip.... Why was it boring you ask? Because before 'Flashy Flashy' was with us, we only strode around on the old boat. It felt endless till 'Flashy Flashy' came...
PS: After the boat ride there was a souvenir shop and all of us bought some stuff!!! :)

A time I had courage - scream park
I was at Sunway Lagoon. It iwas so fun in the water park, wild park and the amusement park!! All the water slides, Animal shows and Snake Ride where you ride on a log and slide over 14 feet down and into the water made us completely wet. However there was only 1 thing left to do and that is to go inside a haunted house called "Scream Park". I was only afraid of 1 part which is called prison break in there.
"Hey Mei and Rei, do you want to go into Scream Park?" I said. "Sure!" Replied Mei and Rei. But as the door opened, it was pitch black with zombies in it. There was a wide screen TV and we watched a video of a lady trapped inside a haunted house. She died in the end. Then the tour began on foot. The first half was fun!! It had a bridge which made you feel like you were going upside down. There was also a 3D ghost room. It had strange things in it that made me laugh! Like big red 3D lips.
However the ending of the tour was not fun. Instead it was terrifying. It was the prison break called "Freezer" It was the scariest... It was pitch black with loud gun shot sounds. When I brought one step forward, the prisoner suddenly appear from nowhere with the horrifying image. There were lights flashing which made me even more scared. In addition to that, it was a maze of metal cages. You had to find your own way to the exit and nobody in there would help you. I almost chickened out. Everyone was screaming "I want to go back! I want to go back!" And even trying to go into the freezer took every ounce of courage. I clung onto my father's T-Shirt. Mei was pulling my T-Shirt moving back to the entrance. Rei was hugging Mei. Nobody was moving even an inch. I thought the only way to get out of the Freezer was to find the way through the maze to get to the exit. I shouted to Mei "Stop pulling me. They are only trying to scare us. We have to keep moving towards the exit. Follow me!". By saying that to Mei, I was talking to myself as well. Now Mei started to hug me. I started walking slowly. Mei closed her eyes and started to walk close behind me.
When we got out to the exit, my friends and I were sweating with fear but I was also laughing. I decided to go again and again until it was time to go home.
Scream Park is definitely my favourite part in Sunway Lagoon. But now they have taken Prison Break out and replaced it with Terminator. If you go after 7pm, you get to play with laser guns and it is awesome!!!

investigating the past
Have you ever thought why people from the past draw paintings?? Well here are some reasons that our awesome teacher Ms. Reiser taught us!!
One of the paintings that me and my partner Dylan was looking at was a picture of animals running. It basically has horses in it. It seems like the horses are running, maybe looking for shelter because of a storm. The social scientist predicted that, it could be a hunting ritual or used in a ceremony.Or it could also be that it was a unsuccessful hunting trip.
Another painting found is a paintings of a man in a bird mask and a bird standing on sticks with a bison the bison has a spear in him. Some social scientist predicted that it could be a memory of a successful hunt. This painting might also be used for a ceremony or a ritual.
Another cave painting is a painting of horses walking on the edge of a rock and a bull as if he is running away from something. The bull looked like he ran away from a person because there looked like there was a saddle or a blanket on the bulls back. Social scientists predict that the artist tried to capture the "magical powers" of that moment. Or it may have also been used in a ritual or ceremony.

What scientist I want to be
Out of historian geographer and archaeologist I want to be a archaeologist. The reason why I want to be archaeologist is because we can find things like skulls and artefact that people used in the past. I don't like digging but to me it is worth digging if you find amazing things. An archaeologist doesn't just guess where to find old artefacts or bones. They have to estimate the right place where things might be buried by revising where they found other things from the past. In addition to that, they have to study the history that the historians uncovered. I think that the tools that archaeologist uses is fun to use.
Here are 2 pictures of archaeologists.
Here are the sources I used for my pictures:

All about me
My name is Ayaka. I am an only child in my family. I am in 6th grade. I am part Japanese, part American and part Singaporean. I have 4 sugar-gliders and 2 dogs. My 4 sugar-gliders names are Jack, Jewel, Coraline and Lezlie. My 2 dogs names are Frosty and Sasuke. I will one day become an amazing Ninja like Uzumaki Naruto and Uchiha Sasuke (this is not my dog). My mom's name is Akemi and my dad's name is Nathan.
My interest is to become a Ninja like Uzumaki Naruto. My hobbies, or basically what I do is to train to become a Ninja. My favorite things to do is reading Naruto books and watching video's of Naruto. One of my favorite foods is Ramen!
Here are some adjectives that describe me: loud, funny, talkative, nice, weird, caring and fast.
I am fast because I beat my friends in a running race. I am funny because people laugh at me. I am caring because I don't want to hurt people's feelings.
My academic and social goal is to at get all A's.
I am not sure what else you would like to know about me. I am officially out of ideas of stuff to tell you about me. Sorry if I missed out something that you wanted to know about me. However I do have one thing to tell about me. This is my first blog I have ever made in my life. Thanks for reading this!!!
